Birds of a feather flock together. And they’re landing at the Peninsula Gallery this April. Feathered Friends features various bird portraits from 10 juried artists and will be on display from April 1st to the 30th.  

 

     This show’s chirping chappies are brought to life through a mixture of mediums from oil to fiber and photography to sculpture, highlighting the grace, intelligence, and whimsy of different bird breeds. In the collection, you’ll fly away with eagles, egrets, chickens, robins, spoonbills, puffins, and many more. 

 

     Most of these migrating fowl are depicted in a traditional realism style, with some artists focusing on specific parts of the birds, such as eyes, beaks, or faces. Other artists have painted each detail of their flittering subjects, showcasing the many colors, textures, and poses seen in these magical creatures.

 

     Tony Boyd-Heron, the gallery’s co-owner and Exhibition Director, says of the show, “Each bird portrait has its own playful energy that captures your imagination. You’ll fall in love and be in awe of these stunning animals, wanting to take them all home with you! This is an excellent show, and we’re excited for patrons to be able to see it.”  

 

     The exhibition’s tufted friends are crafted by Jackie Atkins, Kristin Blanck, Carrie Hildebrand, Virgil Holmes, John Hoyt, Kathryn Hunter Luciana, Brenda Kidera, Rinal Parikh, Maggii Sarfaty, and Susan Shalowitz.

 

     Feathered Friends will be on display from April 1st to the 30th. Works from the show can be previewed at www.peninsula-gallery.com and are available for pre-sale.
